I first saw Chris Daughtry, like everyone else, on American Idol. My sister-in-law and I were huge supporters of him while he was on the show. He caught our attention during the auditions and thought he had a very unique voice. Plus, we were thrilled that he was from North Carolina. We'd call in and vote as many times as our fingers allowed. We were shocked to see him get eliminated. We didn't watch the show much after that. But honestly, not being the winner in the long run has only helped his career. He was able to do his own music and own record. If he was confined under the Idol contract I doubt he could do much of anything he wanted. American Idol has become more like a popularity contest than a talent competition.
I think it's amazing that he writes his own songs. How many artists do that anymore and actually get to use their own material?
When I first heard that the Daughtry CD was out in November I made a mad dash to get it. Luckily, I got my CD before they ran out. They could hardly keep them in the stores from what we saw. My sister-in-law reluctantly had to wait until Christmas to get hers. My parents were a little peeved that I had went ahead and bought the CD. But I just couldn't wait. My sister-in-law an I played the cd over an over again.
I’m a fan of Daughtry because their songs actually mean something. Daughtry is one of the most original bands that I've seen in the recent years of rock music. Most of them have a generic sound to them.
I have even converted my friends and some of my family to being Daughtry fans. Everytime I mention that I'm going to see Daughtry in concert they all beg for me to take them!
I've had the opportunity to see Daughtry two times in 2007. The first concert, October 20th, was at the state fair. We traveled roughly three hours to see him for the first time. After the show was over we stood and waited hoping to get to meet him but the security guards turned us away. Later, we found out that he was meeting with people two hours before the show. The second show, December 15th, was at the Oven's Auditorium. We were scared that our seats were crappy because they were on the floor and all the way in the back. Luckily, when we got there we were close to the stage after all!
Our first show of 2008 is March 16th at Greensboro, NC. I can’t believe Daughtry is touring with Bon Jovi! My sister-in-law is a HUGE fan of Bon Jovi.
We were planning on traveling to Tennesse potentially to see them together. But tickets ran out so fast that we didn't have a chance! So when we found out that both Daughtry and Bon Jovi were coming to Greensboro in March we knew we had to get tickets. But, all the good tickets were either taken or were 1,000 dollars each! Too bad we're in the nosebleed section. Ooh well at least we get to go!!
Daughtry truly rocks!
Can't Wait!
I can't wait until I see Daughtry again on December 15th! What a great Christmas present to myself!
He put on an amazing show at the NC State Fair. We traveled 3 hours to see him, but we were so far away we barely could see him.
My group got tickets on the floor row W.
I never got the presale code either. But, I'm happy that I at least got tickets.
I hope everyone enjoys the show!
