Small Town Sleeper Enters the Charts!!!!
Ohio Pop rock band "Small Town Sleeper", signed to my production company and Upper 11 / Fontana Records is finally on the charts. This has been a long time in the making to say the least. I met the band in 2000 (yes 8 years ago) and began developing them. I got them signed in 2006 and began producing their debut album which we finished in March of 2007.
Their first single "Backseat" has now been serviced to radio and is starting to make its presence felt. hopefully this is just the very beginning of a long chart run. "Backseat" debuted last week on the"CHR / Top 40 Indicator" chart last week at #37 and climbed to #36 this week. I've included a screenshot of the chart. Most notable is who's on the charts next to them. American Idol, David Cook, at #38, Taylor Swift at #32, Maroon 5 at #28. I'd say they are in excellent company indeed.

For those that don't know who they are ....Small Town Sleeper is a Rock/Urban Pop band out of Ohio that opened for Daughtry at ten shows last summer. I was lucky enough to catch them in Vancouver last August and was so impressed. Met them after the show and honestly…. they were the sweetest, most down to earth guys ever!! Loved them so much I flew to Wisconsin last November to catch two more shows and again they rocked the houses down. Since their tour with Daughtry they have become an even better band…if that’s possible (haha) and great things are on the horizon for them!
Check em out! Promise you won't be disappointed. They are all Mega Talent, Sweet and not too hard on the eyes ! hee hee

So you guys just came off a summer tour with Candlebox. How was the experience over all? Can you tell us a story from the road?
Candlebox…Wow…What can I say other than we learned more in 3 months than we have learned in the last 3 years. It was our longest tour to date so you really have to figure out the psychology of knowing “people”. Be it your band mates, the other bands, or the fans. How much space everyone needs, how certain people like to be addressed, who are the introverts/extroverts, etc…and then handling life away from home on top of all of that. You really do spend a lot of time together, and the fact that the clubs we played this summer were a bit smaller, you are on top of one another all the time. Because of this, you get a little more intimate with the other bands and crews. We are def. friends with the guys in DAUGHTRY, and love them to death, but as much time as we spent with Candlebox and The Kings Royal…you become family, and it still feels that way a month later. I can’t say enough about the entire crew. Of course we feel our live show has gotten better as well, but that is a given when you get to watch such an amazing live band every single night. It was an honor to be on this tour
Your first single “Backseat” is being played on radio stations across the USA. That must be exciting? Why did you choose “Backseat” as the first single?
Yep, we have started “phase I” of the radio promo meaning we have started hitting smaller market radio. Once the CD is out, we will hit phase II and re-launch “Backseat” to larger markets. Why “Backseat”?...well that is what the label and managers wanted, and we agreed. It is a great up- beat pop/rock tune with an interesting topic. Coming out of nowhere as a new band, you need to have a song that grabs people’s attention, and singing about sex in the “Backseat” seems to do that.
When will your album 'Conversations' be released in stores?
Hahaha.. I wish I knew the exact date, but we are getting very close. You must realize that we signed to a label that had no offices or staff set-up in the states. We knew going in that it would be a long process. Things kind of took off faster than we had intended mostly because of the DAUGHTRY dates, but you sure as hell don’t turn down tour dates with DAUGHTRY! We rushed the pre-release to meet demand, but now we are at the point that we can’t and don’t want to rush all the set-up to have a proper release and marketing campaign. They finally have offices in NYC set-up and staffed as well as our distribution signed with Fontana which is Universal’s distributor. All of this just recently happened, and we are super close to having all the pieces to the puzzle!
You guys toured with Daughtry in the summer of 07. Would you like to tour with them again?
Hell Yes…Those guys are incredible. Above and beyond that, they have the most amazing and loyal following! We were lucky to have met so many remarkable people on the road with them that we now consider friends. Not sure what it is about the DAUGHTRY crowds, but I think the beer at their shows may be spiked with happy pills…you won’t find better fans. I was humbled and inspired leaving that tour.
What's next for STS?
Next for STS is def. getting our album out and doing a full on push! Still talking about videos, and more touring. Lots ahead!

I got the cd yesterday after i got home from my AAAAAAMAZING east coast trip seeing STS and Candlebox and then i seen people on myspace posting bulletins about STS fans needing to check out the Daughtry Deluxe booklet thing... so i pull it out and read chris' thank you and saw SMALL TOWN SLEEPER listed and i pretty much "EEK-ED" out loud with a big smile on my face and said SMALL TOWN SLEEPER as i pointed to it! i was so happy to see that!
It was super generous of him to have STS in mind to put them in there!! Im so proud and appreciative of the whole thing!!
Its been almost a whole year since STS and Daughtry last seen eachother so i think the 1year reunion should come true!

After looking through all the VIP pics from Indiana I noticed you all kept on the STS wristbands I gave you! THANK YOU!!! That was soooo cool seeing them in so many pics!! And JP, you wore yours for the whole show!!!! That was SO awesome!!!
And Chris you were so cute when you said, "Who're those guys?" and then winked and smiled at me...LOL...ya lil smartass...haha!! Too funny! It meant a lot to the guys that y'all put them on and had them on in the VIP pics. You're all so amazing!!!
That VIP was the BEST day EVER...I love you guys for giving us this opportunity, and the fact that you all actually thanked US for doing it just shows what amazing people you all are!

This is sort of an "official" review that's going to the label and everything. Our Street Team Leader usually does a review after each show she goes to for the label. Since she was unable to be at this one, she asked me to do it, so I proudly did. Here ya go...more pics later too. If you have a MySpace check out the pics I have posted so far!
Review of STS from Tuesday, July 15 - Bogarts in Cincinnati, OH:
The show Tuesday in Cincy was amazing! For me personally it was my first time seeing them in a larger venue and opening for a national act, so for me it was seeing them completely on "another level". I was so proud!
After The Kings Royal went offstage, I saw this big, bald, tough-looking guy say to his friends, "yeah I think there's another band on before them" so of course I felt the need to pipe in and say yes there is, they're Small Town Sleeper and they're from Urbana, and they're amazing! You could see he and his friends thought the fact that they were a local band on a national tour with a national act was pretty cool. After the show, I happened to see that same guy shaking hands with Dann at the merch table, laughing, talking and such. Apparently he was impressed...as he should be!
But all in all the guys were fantastic as always. It seems each show I see, they get better and better, growing more and more as stage performers which blows my mind considering I thought they were amazing almost a year ago when I saw them for the first time! They sounded awesome...both musically and vocally. They were smiling and having fun, and the crowd seemed really engaged. I heard lots of screams (including my own LOL) and was just loving every second of the largest crowd I've seen for them bobbing their heads and throwing rock signs in the air. And I am always in awe of Troy up there when he talks to the audience. He always seems so comfortable, like he's just hanging out, talking with friends. You can see people love that and they take to the band as a whole partly because of it.
At the end of the night the merch table was full of people, merch was bought (including ALL the CDs they had), pictures were taken, and fans were born! It was a GREAT night!!
