LAWSUIT???
Hey have you guys heard about this? I get google alerts for Daughtry and I just got this today...
Daughtry is being sued by Randy Mazick because the song “Feels Like Tonight” on the album “Daughtry” is a copy of his own song called “Tonight.” alleges Mazick. The lawsuit says Mazick said his band, The Asphalt, first performed the song in 2005, ahead of Daughtry's 2006 release.
The lawsuit names Apple as one of the defendants because Apple distributed the song on its iTunes Store. Mazick also named producer and songwriter Lukasz Gottwald, music publishing company Kasz Money Publishing, songwriter Martin Karl Sandberg, music publishing company Maratone, songwriter Sheppard Solomon, Bertelsmann Music Group, and RCA records.
Mazick is asking the court for damages and the defendant’s profits, as well as other monetary awards the court deems suitable.

well...i heard that the guy who is sewing (ha! cant spell...its probably wrong) but anyway...i heard he is also sewing the people who sold the song...so i think this guy just wants some money!

The only words that I heard that were the same were "..it feels like tonight".
Can you sue because like 4 words are the same?

Chords, runs, words - they're bound to show up exactly the same in other songs eventually, doesn't mean they were "stolen."

but i didn't know it was still going on jeez. that guy needs to get over it. there are MILLIONS of songs out in the world...of course there are gonna be some songs out there that sound a little bit similar. they even talked about it the other day on our local radio station...but they agreed that they think the guy's only in it for the money too because he wants to sue Apple too. woww get a life. ....and poor Chris. he didn't even write the damn song. =/

Two totally different songs!!! They really don't have a leg to stand on... Whatever sounds like that band is just trying to get publicity any way they can.... I really would not even be worried about this peeps because I can guarantee you nothing will happen!

Sounds completely different. And, I might add really sucks.
I read the petition this morning, and it really lacks much substance. It wasn't worded well, so I have to wonder how good of an attorney the plaintiff has. I just don't think it will go very far. I'm sure the attorneys for Apple and RCA and Chris are fantastic.
And yeah, there are tons of songs that have the same lyrics in them. The Pussycat Dolls' new song has the lyrics, "be careful what you wish for casue you just might get it." Doesn't that sound familiar?? hmmm

Whatever..... sounds like a case of good ol' fashion jealousy to me!!
I listened to the song Tonight, and they are two very different songs. Just because the words Feels Like Tonight is in the song, does that mean the song was copied?!?! If that is the case, than there have been a lot of songs through-out time that have been copied. I think it's a case dismissed.

I heard about this a long time ago but heard it was dropped or something. Either way I just listened to it and the only similarity is that it says "and it feels like tonight" nothing else is the same.

Read the CD insert, Chris didnt write it. It was one of the few songs on the album that he didn't write/cowrite. Sue the record producers if anyone but even so that would be pointless. I doubt DAUGHTRY was listening to "The Asphalt" whom I've never even heard of in my life. Not to mention its not a good song so why would they copy it anyway?

This statement alone proves they are just in it for the money. Apple is being sued for distributing the song? WTH? They didn't have ANYTHING to do with creating the song. So, are they gonna sue WalMart and Target too! Seriously!
Plus, Chris didn't write the song. He merely recorded it!

to this band called asphalt and it is pure bull****, this song is not even close to coping!!!! its arrangement, vocal, sound, and lyrics are not even alike at all so stupid for this stupid band called asphalt to even try to do this and by the way daughtry just sung it no part in writing this, and i am sure daughtry and rca have the best attorneys to throw this in the file 13 trash!!!! i guess some people just have to go after those who are sucessful in hopes they can cash in, NOT EVEN WORRIED ABOUT THIS DAUGHTRY RULES!!!!!
