I live in South Africa and I adore your music. I wanted to find out from you, where you found inspiration to write the song "home"? My best friend Juan Paul passed away in December 2007,21st. His mom heard this song in her sleep and she asked her sons friends who sang the song, and it was you. The song is so appropriate. He was a free spirit and gentle hearted friend. He was 21 when he passed away. And every time I hear "home" I cry and think why and how its not fair that he's gone! I just want to say thank you for your amazing voice and lyrics.They really touch my heart. I hope you will Tour one day here in South Africa? It would be fabulous to see you sing live!!! The reason I am writing is I have a favor to ask of you. It is nothing big, and is something I know you can do, and I hope that you do not mind doing it. If you can not, I will understand, I know how busy you are.

I currently have a 22yr old son who is currently deployed to Iraq, serving our country in the US Army.
He has been over there now almost a year, and it has been hell on me to say the least, but I am sure it has been worse on him seeing all he has and going through all he has, being hit by an IED and surviving it!
While I know his job is so very important, I wish to God he was home and not there. I can not explain in words the stress and the emotions I have and have had since he deployed. It has been very hard on me as a mother.

Anyways, I am working on a scrapbook for Nick (that's my sons name, actually it is Nickalaus, but we call him Nick.

Anyways, I wanted to do something special for him and since I can not afford alot these days I had this thought about a scrapbook. My thought was to get signed autograph pics of different artists, some I like some he likes etc.. and do a scrapbook of them for him. I thought it would be great if you could sign a pic of you for him with a little message on there specially for him from you. It can say anything you want, thank you for serving our country, please be safe and come home soon, what ever you would like to write as long as it is a personal message to him from you.

I just started the scrapbook, and have one so far from Toby Keith which is one of Nick's favorite artist, you were next as a fav of his.

So, with that said I would like to ask for your assistance and was wondering if you could sign a pic for me to him with a little message to Nick?

Nick is coming home in late July early August for 2-weeks rest (R&R) and I am trying to get it together for him by then to give it to him, however I know this is short notice, and if I can't get it done, I will just send it to him in Iraq once I complete it.

I know this may all sound silly, but it is something special I think he would love, not to mention it would lift his moral more than you can imagine! To know that there are people out there who appreciate what he is doing for our country.

thank you so much for taking careof the issues with the forums.
For the past several months I've been on a Roller Coaster ride with my companion...sick one day and perhaps feeling better the next day. He went through extruciating pain and physically fading "away".
He went into eternal peace Sunday May 25.
I would not have made it through those months without the DO site...especially the DOGG thread.
The ladies are the most amazing people I have ever known...there for me with their prayers and sympathy upon Terry's passing.
